The painting is accompanied by a letter from Professor Eduard A. Safarik dated January 19, 2008, a copy of which is available. The scholar mentions another version of the composition, focusing solely on the utensils for cooking fish, which is the same height but cropped at the sides. (The fragmentary painting, deemed an “autograph replica” by the scholar, is published in G. and U. Bocchi, *Naturalia*, Turin 1992, pp. 288–289, plate 101, and sold at Christie’s, Rome, on June 16, 2004, lot 123.)
