Santa Cruz, California

One of California's iconic cabernet sauvignon, according to many critics even pointed out as the best of them.
Ridge Vineyards is one of the most important wineries in California and, according to many authorities, is even the best address for the cabernet sauvignon varietal in the state. It was a participant in the famous 1976 Paris Tasting and winner of the revisit tasting held 30 years later. The most important winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains region, run over the decades by the famous winemaker, Paul Draper.
2020 is a vintage of reduced yields and very careful selection. Hose harvest, 100% whole berry fermentation, organic fruit and fermentation on natural yeasts. 84% cabernet sauvignon, then merlot, petit verdot and cabernet franc.
The wine has a deep color, smells like plums and black currants, like vanilla, toasted roast and then bay leaf, fennel and juniper. Beautifully integrated, the body stacked on a frame of tannins and acidity, all on point. We'd say classic Bordeaux from Santa Cruz, but Ridge is a distinct style and class apart.
