Lithograph on arc.5,7x5,8 cm. Pilawa coat of arms and motto "Scutum opponebat scutis" (Polish: "shield against shield"). Ex-libris from before 1899. Ex-libris mounted on a small black backing placed on a larger sheet of stiff paper. Traces of glue on the back.
Antonin Library - "The first owner of the book collection in Antoniny in Volhynia was Antoni Henryk Radziwill (1775-
1833), then the library became the property of the Sanguszko family and its collection was enriched by the legacy of Roman Sanguszko of Slawuta (1800-1881). His daughter Maria (1830-1903) [...] marrying Alfred Potocki (1817-1889), ordinate of Łańcut and governor of Galicia, brought the Antoninas into the Potocki household [...]. The Antonina mansion was expanded (after 1892) by Maria and Alfred's second son, Jozef Mikolaj Potocki (1862-1922) - a politician, traveler, collector and famous horse breeder. He amassed a collection of Polish paintings, engravings, sculptures and porcelain. The entire Antonian book collection consisted of 20,000 volumes. It consisted
consisted of a main library occupying two rooms (15,000 volumes), the personal libraries of the owner and his wife, and a palace library comprising 1,500 exquisite albums and art publications. The Antonines also housed a rich archive
with manuscripts of scientific works by Jan Potocki (1761-1815) [...]. After the outbreak of the October Revolution, only a small part of this collection survived and was transported to Czarny Ostrów, and in 1920 it was located in Warsaw, in the Branicki Palace at 15 Krakowskie Przedmieście St. It was burned by the Germans in 1944."
