When I now look outside myself and see my journey through Algeria and Tunisia, and especially when, in order to write this second volume of my North African journey, I leafed through my notes, made on the spot,- in hotels, official offices, in funds, Mauritian cafes, markets, among beggars and descendants of corsairs, in the palaces, houses, and huts of the Berbers, Kabyls and Arabs, in front of mosques, on the hunt, in the steppes, on the peaks of the Atlas and Jurdjur, on my knee in the car, among the Roman and Phoenician ruins, or in the Sahara, - I understand that without the help and advice of a whole range of people I could not have taken these observations, news and impressions.

Condition of preservation very good: full leather cover with printing according to the original wrapper, new linings and sewing, pages in impeccable condition.
