Sigmund Freud (born as Sigismund Schlomo Freud on May 6, 1856 in Příbor, died September 23, 1939 in London) - Austrian physician of Jewish origin, neurologist, founder of psychoanalysis; since 1938 he lived in England.
Although Freud was not a philosopher in the strict sense of the word, his concepts of the workings of the human mind, rejecting the rationality of human choices and behavior in favor of irrational and emotional factors, had an enormous influence on philosophers, scientists and artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It also has a huge, still vibrant influence on cultural studies, religious studies and other social sciences.
