The novel The Invaders was written during the years of occupation, under unusual circumstances. Dobraczynski, involved in military underground work, editor of a clandestine magazine, could only afford to be in touch with literature in the late evenings and nights. The idea for the novel and its draft appeared in 1940, but life made constant adjustments. Even the author himself could not say how the fate of the characters would ultimately turn out.
