13x17 cm, pastel, fabric pasted on paper
Janusz Bersz (1929-1985). This almost abstract landscape miniature painting by Janusz Bersz is a very intimate record of a vast landscape with trees and green expanses of meadows, which closes with a lit up, pinkish pass between gentle hills drawn in the distance against a blue sky. Signed "J.Bersz."
The author was born in Poznań, studied in Paris, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań (in 1950), a student of Eustachy Wasilkowski. In his early work he is described as a painter of "allusive abstraction," although in later years he did not shy away from representational painting. He was also a talented and highly regarded ceramicist. His works are in numerous museum collections and collections in the country and abroad.
