Alexander Sturm (1851-1915) established a goldsmith's business in 1882, and also opened a store the following year. After initial difficulties, he managed to develop the business with the help of representatives of the Viennese bourgeoisie, who became his regular customers After the founder's death, the business was taken over by his son Alexander (1875-1949), who hired the artists of the Wiener Werkstätte in 1926. After the war, the factory was taken over by Adalbert Sturm (1904-1969). In 1988, it was closed down. At the beginning of the 21st century, the factory was resurrected by Christa Berghaus Fölster (1950-2013).
