"While the female models over the many years of Malczewski's mature oeuvre cyclically changed in terms of beauty, in the case of the male models, in some way close to the painter, even if they were also affected by rotation over a long period of time, they consistently present the same type of beauty, and to a large extent the style of clothing in which they appear in the paintings. (...) Malczewski's favorite type of model is a dark-haired man with a breakfasty southern complexion."
