Władysław Rząb (Zgierz 18 May 1910 - Zgierz 13 August 1992) - was born into a large and poor working-class family. Difficult conditions did not allow him to develop his artistic interests, which he had manifested since childhood. Before World War II, he made amateur copies of battle scenes. After the war, he studied for three years - thanks to a scholarship he received - at Prof. Adam Rychtarski's painting studio in Lodz. He worked in many professions, including being a painter, sign painter, store window decorator and letter carrier. For many years he applied for admission to the Association of Polish Artists, which he achieved only in 1986. By then he had gained a reputation in Poland and abroad as a non-professional artist. He participated in many exhibitions of this genre of art, and his works entered important collections. In addition to painting, he was involved in printmaking (mainly linocut) and drawing.
