This work is a rare and exceptionally intriguing example of Zygmunt Gornowicz’s early, mature technical work, dating from 1983—a pivotal year for the artist (the year he graduated).
Zygmunt Gornowicz (1949–2017) was a Polish printmaker, painter, draftsman, and poster artist associated with the Gdańsk art scene. From 1978 to 1983, he studied at the Department of Painting and Graphic Arts at the State Higher School of Fine Arts (now the Academy of Fine Arts) in Gdańsk. He studied graphic design under Prof. Marek Freudenreich and received his diploma in 1983 in the studio of Prof. Witold Janowski.
