Studied art in Moscow, St. Petersburg and also in Cracow at the Academy of Fine Arts under Wojciech Weiss. He spent the years 1921-23 in Paris. He later settled in Cracow, from where he went to Paris several more times. He also made trips to Italy, Yugoslavia and Great Britain. Beginning in 1918, he participated in exhibitions, and also collaborated with the weekly magazine "Maski," for which he made drawings and lithographs. In the 1920s he exhibited with the Formist group and at TAP "Art" exhibitions. In 1945, he was appointed professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He painted mainly nature, still lifes, nudes, while towards the end of his life he focused on abstract forms. Painter, pedagogue (teacher of drawing in Krakow gymnasiums, professor at the private Free School of Drawing and Painting, which he founded in 1923 and ran until 1935, and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow), member of the Jednoróg and Zwornik groups.Fedkowicz's painting initially underwent various influences and transformations. Contacts with the Formists, with whom he exhibited in 1919, left a trace in his paintings from 1919 to 21.However, the dominant role in the artist's mature work was played by color interests, which came fully to the fore after 1927.Color became the essential material of his paintings, pushing the role of the object to the background. Fedkowicz's landscapes and still lifes are usually maintained in warm, delicate, somewhat muted tones, built up from both near-pure colors and subtle half- and quarter-tones. Characteristic is the texture of these canvases (especially after 1934) with rough surfaces, created by thickening layers and streaks of color, the painter's favorite shades of pink, red, yellow, blue and green.
