Sergey Malishevsky, was the son of Algerd Malishevsky - a highly regarded painter in the Belarusian art community. He studied at the Minsk Art School and the Belarusian Academy of Theater and Art, ( now the Academy of Fine Arts
Minsk), under the direction of Vladimir Stelmashonoek. He was a member of the "Pluralis" and "Artel" associations. His work is closest to surrealism and magical realism where mythological and religious motifs often appear.
