Kazimierz Szmyt (1860 - 1941) - Poznan-bound author of numerous portraits and landscapes, member of the Poznan Society of Fine Arts and the Society of Artists, participant in many community exhibitions. His portraits are valued for their exceptional verisimilitude of representation and ability to capture the individual characteristics of the model, often executed for official official commissions. As an artist, he also did not shy away from landscape representations, including mountain landscapes and portraits of highlanders in folk costumes, whose authenticity and beauty he rendered with great authenticity. This unique portrait of a highlander playing the bagpipes not only intrigues with the model's austere beauty, but also fully reflects the "highlanderism" with which artists of the interwar period were fascinated.
