Isaac Denies (1647 - 1690), Still Life
Isaac Denies specialized mainly in still lifes with fruit and flowers, as well as in hunting themes. He worked mainly in Amsterdam and Delft. This painting depicts a still life with a central motif of blushing peaches with a butterfly. The grapes and walnuts are typical for this artist. The scene is framed by foliage and set on the black drapery flowing from the lacquered table. (expert opinion: Fred G. Meijer, Amsterdam)
Oil on canvas, 58 x 46 cm
