A very rare type of exquisite Piast brakteate, characterized by mature sculptural craftsmanship.
The coin is interpreted by Witold Garbaczewski as depicting a ruler with a lily scepter, which may be both the staff of the Old Testament high priest Aaron (the sign of God's chosen ruler) and the rod of justice (the sign of a magistrate ruler).
Kraków (or Sandomierz) issue.
An exquisite numismatic coin, with mint luster and a lovely patina.
For the best collections - definitely recommended.
Obverse: half figure in robe facing right, holding a lily scepter in front of him, rings in the fields
Silver, diameter 15.5 mm, weight 0.06 g.
