A 1979 Ghana commemorative circulation coin with a face value of 50 pesewas, issued as part of the FAO program.
Obverse: The fruit of the cacao tree (Theobroma cacao) growing directly on the trunk, with the inscription “GHANA” above and the motto “FREEDOM AND JUSTICE” in a ring around the edge.
Reverse: the coat of arms of Ghana centered, with the inscription “FIFTY” above, the year “1979” on either side, and the inscription “PESEWAS” below.
The coin is made of aluminum bronze, weighs 12.5 g, has a diameter of 32 mm, and features a serrated edge.
Mint: The Royal Mint, Llantrisant, United Kingdom.
Mintage: 40,000,000 pieces.

The coin is housed in its original collector’s envelope from the “Coins of All Nations” series issued by The Franklin Mint.
The envelope features a Ghanaian postage stamp with a face value of 65 pesewas, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Scout Movement, postmarked in Accra on July 1, 1982.
The set is a collector’s item combining the coin, the original envelope, and a philatelic item.
