Lot description
Viennese style mechanical music box, made by the renowned maker Anton Olbrich in Vienna in the 19th century. The cabinet is made of dark polished wood and its lid contains a glass window that allows you to observe the operation of the playing mechanism.The mechanism includes a precisely machined cylindrical drum and metal slats that create a melody when turned. The cabinet is equipped with a side winding mechanism and a trigger pull on the front.
Anton Olbrich was one of the important manufacturers of musical instruments in the Habsburg Monarchy, whose products were characterized by fine craftsmanship and musical quality. This specimen is a rare example of the 19th century Viennese music cabinet style.
