79.5 x 66.5 cm, 2022, signed l.d. Zapisunki are drawings created in mixed techniques, created largely from handwritten notes. The sheets of paper under Zapisunki are created from old, handwritten notes on sheets of various types of paper, which the artist sets aside on an ongoing basis. She glues them together using tape and glue, and then applies the notations. The content of the Notes refers to the artist's memories and thoughts related to the past, both near and far.
Monika Gawron, born in 1997 in Piekary Slaskie, graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. She completed her main diploma in the Painting Studio of Prof. Zbigniew Blukacz, and two additional diplomas: in the Drawing Studio of Prof. Maciej Linttner and in the Sculpture Studio of Prof. Katarzyna Fober. Scholarship holder of the Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice for the best students. She has solo and group exhibitions to her credit, including a solo exhibition at the Single Gallery in Katowice (2021), a group exhibition at the Roundabout of Art in Katowice "Student Picture of the Year" (2021), participation in the group exhibition of the International Student Drawing Triennial (2020) and participation in the Art Now project and a group exhibition at the National Museum in Krakow (2019). In his works, he explores themes of time and memory, often using the written word.
