Biography
Studied graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts. Since childhood, his interests focused mainly on drawing, hence his choice of direction at the Academy. In the first years of his studies he worked on painting advertising murals. Oil painting became his main means of expression when he created his first series of paintings in 2017. This was the beginning of forming his own style and creative expression. Since then, the artist has exhibited his works at home and abroad. He sells his paintings and drawings to private collectors from Poland, as well as France, the United Kingdom and the United States, among others.Krzysztof Stępniewski's work is inspired by Renaissance and Baroque paintings, especially images of saints on the verge of suffering and ecstasy, mythological representations and Hellenistic sculpture. He was very much influenced by the paintings of Caravaggio, Rubens, Raphael and Boticelli, as well as the sculptures of Bernini and Michelangelo. His circle of interest and inspiration also includes works by artists such as. Egon Schiele, Salvador Dali, Henry Scott Tuke, Hippolyte Flandrin, David LaChapelle, Tamara Lempicka and Andrzej Wroblewski.
