A later cast, in bronze, of a rare court medal by King Poniatowski’s medalist, Jan Filip Holzhaeusser. It was made to commemorate Grand Marshal of the Crown Stanisław Lubomirski.
This is likely an early copy, as the rim bears a distinctive buckle clasp mark typical of that era.
This medal was originally struck by order of the king, as stated in the inscription on the reverse:
“That, in fulfillment of his official duty, he duly considered the welfare, peace, and adornment of the capital city of Warsaw during the sad and distressing times of the plague, domestic strife, and high prices, King Stanisław August bestowed this well-deserved prize of glory in the year 1771” (translation based on Raczyński).
