Painter, creator of artistic experiments, photographer, participant and creator of happenings, actor of Tadeusz Kantor's "Cricot 2" theater, co-founder of Foksal gallery (together with critics: Wieslaw Borowski, Anka Ptaszkowska, Mariusz Tchorek, and artists: Henryk Stażewski and Edward Krasinski). He was born in Bydgoszcz, where he studied at the Municipal School of Fine Arts (today's Leon Wyczółkowski State High School of Fine Arts). He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw at the Faculty of Painting (1953 - 1959) in the studio of Prof. Michał Bylina. In 1961-1962 he obtained a specialization in the studio of artistic tapestry under Mieczyslaw Szymanski. Since 1988 he was a professor at the Warsaw University. His works are in museums and private collections around the world.
