Lot information
"FORTIS": on the front, which is set in an ornamental frame with a royal crown and rich decorations in blue and gold. The glass is made of clear glass and its richly decorated surface testifies to a high level of craftsmanship. Such jars were used to store strong or concentrated medicines, which were often rare and expensive. "KALI TARTARIC": which refers to "potassium tartrate" (also known as tartar), a chemical used in medicine and cooking. The glass is also richly decorated, with ornaments in gold and blue creating an elegant frame around the inscription. This jar probably came from an apothecary where fine chemicals or ingredients were used.
