The platter depicts a fabulously colorful, richly detailed scene from Act I of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “La Traviata.” The design stands out for its fairy-tale style—characteristic of Wiinblad—its vivid color palette, and intricate decorations featuring gilding and deep cobalt blue, which contrast perfectly with the delicate form of the rim.
The obverse features the artist’s original signature, applied in gold, and the handwritten title of the work: “La Traviata · Act 1.” The reverse side of the plate bears the official mark of Rosenthal Studio-Linie Germany and a detailed description of the libretto in German.
