Author's interpretation of the biblical story of the Wise Men's worship of the newborn Child includes the Holy Family: St. Joseph stands behind the seated Virgin Mary, holding the Child in her arms. The light of a star falls on the Child. The Magi are pictured on the right. Next to them is a lamb and donkeys.
This artwork is not an icon, despite the general piety of the storyline, faces and halos. This board with a biblical story more closely resembles the work of the icon workshop in the process of education and training of icon painters. The plot is written on the board using oil in the modern style of understanding the event (for example, the children's room is represented by a green bed; architecture - a large window with skyscrapers behind it, etc.).
On the back there are holes for opposing dowels, but the dowels were not inserted, so there was a vertical crack in the board on the right side at the level of 1/4 width. On the reverse side there are holes characteristic of those left by the woodworm.
The state of preservation can be seen in the photos.
