Zdzisław Czermański ( c. 1900–1970)—Polish graphic artist, caricaturist, painter, memoirist, Legionnaire, and officer in the Polish Army. During World War I, he joined the Legions, where he met Marshal Piłsudski. While still in the military, in Lviv, he began studying drawing under Kazimierz Sichulski. Zdzisław Czermański spent the years 1928–1935 in Paris, London, and New York. He successfully exhibited his works. He then returned to Poland for four years. From 1941 onward, he resided permanently in the United States, in New York. His works are characterized by an elegant yet decisive line that does not distort the figures but rather emphasizes their dominant features. Also characteristic are his restrained use of color and the placement of his subjects in precisely constructed settings that complement the image of the person depicted in the caricature. Among his works are portraits of many well-known figures, such as Kornel Makuszyński, Witkacy, Władysław Orkan, and finally Marshal Piłsudski himself (according to the Tatra Museum)
