Stanislaw Rzezewski (1881-1939) was a
Polish printmaker and painter, known primarily for his mastery of the etching technique. He was a member of the Society of Polish Artists "Art" and vice-president of the Warsaw Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts.He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw under Konrad Krzyzanowski, and then continued his studies in Paris.Hegained the greatest recognition for his works done in the etching technique, although he also did painting. They were characterized by great precision and attention to detail. The main motifs of his work were landscapes, including views of Warsaw, its architecture, as well as scenes from Mazovia and Podkarpacie. He often depicted rural landscapes with characteristic motifs such as willows, barns and windmills, often capturing them in a dynamic way, as in the case of the graphic "Wind in the Birches." His works are characterized by a realistic approach combined with an atmospheric, often melancholic atmosphere, which he achieved through subtle handling of chiaroscuro and line.
