He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków under S. Dębicki, J. Pankiewicz, W. Weiss, and K. Laszczka. He was a co-founder of the Polish Expressionists group and, from 1919, of the Formists. In 1921–22, he continued his artistic studies in Paris. In 1925, together with F. S. Kowarski, W. Zawadowski, and J. Rubczak, he founded the “Jednoróg” Guild of Visual Artists—a group focused on color. During the interwar period, he spent several years in France, where he painted mainly landscapes. After the war, he worked as a set designer at theaters in Katowice and Sosnowiec. The artist’s later work was dominated by landscapes featuring soft, gentle colors.
