Antoni Adam Piotrowski (born September 7, 1853, in Nietulisko Duże; died December 12, 1924, in Warsaw) – Polish painter, draftsman, illustrator, and poet; author of children’s fairy tales. He was a co-founder of the “Sztuka” Society of Polish Artists and a member of the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts, as well as the editor and publisher of the weekly magazine *Wieś Polska* (1906).
During his lifetime, he illustrated over a thousand books, 3,000 articles, and more than 500 periodicals. Piotrowski studied painting under Wojciech Gerson; in 1875, he left for Munich on a scholarship to study (in late October 1875, he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts—Naturklasse). He studied there until 1877 under the guidance of Wilhelm Lindenschmit. In the year he graduated, he became a student of Jan Matejko at the School of Fine Arts in Kraków (from 1777 to 1779). From 1879 to 1884, he lived in Paris. In 1885, he traveled to Bulgaria as a correspondent and illustrator for British magazines.
