CEPELIA Union SRLiA RBS in Warsaw / Supplier R.Miklaszewski / Name of goods sculpture APOSTOL.
Roman Miklaszewski made his first sculptures with homemade tools. He only acquired professional chisels and sculpting knives later. He is an exception among sculptors, as he earned a living with his creative work and passion for a long time. Roman Miklaszewski of Sierpc started carving as a child and has been creating ever since.
He uses linden and poplar wood for his creative work. It is difficult to make a more durable sculpture out of poplar, because it should be wet when processed, and then it dries very quickly, which carries the risk of cracking the finished work. Roman Miklaszewski makes sculptures of diverse subjects - from figures of saints, angels, devils, to depictions of nature. He has always drawn inspiration from life, from his own hikes and drives in the countryside. His sculptures are painted with paint, fabulously colorful, one might say - joyful. The artist's workshop is located in the house and is a small room on the second floor, with a table, tools, cabinets. His works are spread everywhere.
Talent and diligence
The Sierpc district used to be famous for sculpture. It concentrated many folk artists in its area. They were supported by local authorities and promoted nationally and internationally. As Roman Miklaszewski tells us, the region was never interesting in terms of folklore or ethnographic phenomena, but in the 20th century it became an important center on the map of sculptural traditions. Between 1956 and 1957, the Polish Institute of Arts conducted research here and discovered some pretty good sculptors - and Miklaszewski surfaced as an artist on this basis. He was extremely talented and hardworking. It was because of this that he became very successful.
Miklaszewski founded a company and sold his products abroad - to the United States or Germany. Today, however, sculptures are no longer as popular, so he returned to keeping bees and making honey. Nevertheless, he always finds time to devote to his main passion in life.
Mr. Roman has worked with Cepelia, and still exhibits his works in several galleries in Warsaw. He has also taken part in many open-air sculpture workshops, during which he has made large-scale sculptures, among other things. (Mazovian Trail of Traditions)
