From an early age, Arnold Goldstein was interested in Native American culture and art. He was a highly regarded sculptor as well as a designer. In 1968, he met Ralph Lauren, who was then unknown to the general public—their collaboration lasted for decades, and Goldstein created, among other things, collections of belts and bolo ties for the brand, inspired by Native American art. Motifs inspired by Native American art and local wildlife (such as bison and horses) are a recurring theme in Goldstein’s work.
