Tin bowl with ears and lid, Netherlands, 19th century.
A traditional bowl, known in Europe since the Middle Ages, called "porringer" in English or "écuelle" in French. Equipped with two distinctive flat handles and a lid. The bowls were used to serve food and were often small works of art. The lid topped with a handle in the form of a flower (most likely a rose in connection with the manufacturer's punch). On the handle heavily obliterated punches: a rose topped with a crown with the letters SWT (Sybertus Ten WINCKE of Hengelo, the Netherlands.) Traces of the passage of time, edges of the lid slightly distorted.
