Silver gilt, 15 cm; weight 46 gr.; signed : "12", "H" and "L", good condition.
Engraved with the typeface used in the 18th century, the letters : "S C G." - signify - Sigismundus Comes Grudzinski. Sigismund Count Grudzinski ( Chodzież 1735 - Berlin 1804) of the Grzymała coat of arms, was a chamberlain of Stanislaw August, son of Karol, castellan in Nakło. He was the grandfather of the famous Joanna Grudzinska wife of the v.d. Konstanty of Belvedere, governor of the Kingdom of Poland, and grandfather to Antonina G. wife of the famous General Dezyder Chłapowski, adjutant to J.H.Dąbrowski. M.Gradowski gives the letter "H" with a circle over the left side of the letter "H" as a probiet in Danzig from 1745-1761, the letter "L" probably refers to Konrad Lundgreen because only this goldsmith in that period in Danzig had a surname with the letter L. His large punches with his full name are known, but here we have an object of small size and the so-called small punches were used at the time. According to Boldoek, Lundgreen worked in Danzig between 1756 and 1766 and then was a goldsmith in Vilnius until 1799. The tongs appeared on the antiquarian market in the 1990s together with a cartouche with the Grzymała coat of arms from the 18th century and documents of the Grudzinski family.
