The work is part of the lithography series “Nocturnes: A Tribute to Chopin.” The piece was featured in an exhibition in Madrid. In his works, the artist perceives a deep kinship between Chopin’s nocturnes and his own drawings: in both cases, classical form is broken by intuition, emotion, and an “unexpected measure.” Just as Chopin created harmonious yet surprising sound structures, the artist’s images combine realism with a symbolic layer and fantasy, opening up space for ambiguous interpretation.
The nocturnes, imbued with melancholy, love, a premonition of death, and drama, serve as a point of reference for him, also through the traditional symbolism of tonality. In art, as in music, what remains most important is emotional truth, rebellion, and the existential struggle, which lend the work cosmic harmony and spiritual depth.
