Studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw from 1946 to 1951, graduating in 1953 in the studio of Professor Jan Cybis. Shaped by his professor-colorist, Dominik believed that the great merit of the Capists was the purification of painting from anecdote, while an important achievement of the modern ones was the creation of a "simplified alphabet," reduced to "the humblest signs." The artist said of himself that he was a "firm opponent" of "insular abstraction" and attached great importance to the expression of emotions. Dominik's compositions, regardless of the technique in which they were made, are united by a coherent conception of the painting, in which drawing occupies an important place alongside color. It is by drawing that the artist defines the individual shapes and the whole composition.
