Piedmont, Barolo
Comments
Giacomo Borgogno is a historic estate, distinguished for the region, whose wines have been served and opened at many of the country's important ceremonies. Best known for its Riserva wines, as well as single vineyard labels: from Cannubi, Fossati, and being their monopole Liste.
Organic cultivation, some of it certified, fermentation in concrete vats and storing the wines in cellars for extended periods are the producer's hallmarks. Each of the vintages on offer provides a glimpse of the producer's style at a different stage of development.
The 2014 Barolo Riserva is the product of an irregular and difficult vintage, requiring extraordinary attention and precision from the producers. The wine is light in structure, medium in concentration and quick to drink. Today at a good time for it. It shows the textbook aromas of a good Barolo, and will appeal not only to amateurs of the style.
