A painting from Andrzej Ratajczyk's characteristic series, in which the artist combines motifs of classical ancient sculpture with a vision of cosmic space. The monumental torso inspired by ancient sculpture is shown as a form suspended in the boundlessness of space, among asteroids and luminous nebulae. The figure gives the impression of being frozen in time and levitating beyond reality, which gives the composition a distinct metaphysical character.
The painting was done in the traditional technique of oil painting, using a multi-step work process inspired by the workshop of the old masters.
The time taken to create the painting was about one month, involving sketching, underpainting and subsequent layers of painting.
The surface of the painting was built up through numerous precise layers of oil glazing, thanks to which exceptional color depth and subtle tonal transitions were achieved , especially visible in the parts of the cosmic background and light modeling on the sculptural form.
The composition represents the most recognizable trend of the artist's work - a unique combination of antique sculpture and outer space, creating works with a strong collector's character.
